Body Part: Skin and soft tissue

Bacteria:

  • Staphylococcus epidermidis (Staff-ill-oh-cock-us ep-id-derm-id-is)

  • Staphylococcus aureus (Staff-ill-oh-cock-us or-ree-us)

  • Micrococcus (Mike-row-cock-us)

  • Corynebacterium (Cor-run-nee-back-tea-ree-um)

Job: Our body gets rid of toxins through sweat. As sweat evaporates, it leaves behind traces of these toxic compounds on our skin. The main job of bacteria that live on our skin is removing these toxins by using them as food. Some of this process makes our sweat smell bad!
